  1. Hi Madison, thanks for sharing these facts about New Zealand (NZ) with us. When I first moved to NZ it took me a long time to learn how to drive here because, in Canada, we drive on the opposite side of the road. After about six months it started to feel normal to drive on the left but I still have to be careful every time I get behind the wheel that I don't make a mistake and turn the wrong way or drive on the wrong side of the road! I like that you have reminded us of the importance of being careful drivers and not drink driving. That is so crucial!

It is also crucial (important) that we do what we can to protect kiwi birds in New Zealand. They are very vulnerable to attack because they can not fly and, as a result, many have died. At present there are only about 68 000 kiwi left in all of New Zealand. This makes them an endangered species. If you would like to read more about kiwi birds in New Zealand, feel free to check out this link: http://www.doc.govt.nz/nature/native-animals/birds/birds-a-z/kiwi/facts/.

Thanks for providing us with such an informative blog post, Madison. You have made me think carefully about driving safely, about protecting endangered animals such as the albatross and kiwi, and about all of the fun things that we can see and do in Auckland, including going to restaurants, concerts, the beach and Rainbow's End.

    Cheers!!
